BJP hails Modi govt’s holistic approach towards J&K Jammu,July 11: It was for the time in 66 years that the country has a government at the centre that treated all the three regions of the state – Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh–equally while allocating funds in the Union Budget. The BJP hails the Narendra Modi-led NDA government, as the manner in which it treated the state would go a long way in ensuring its unity and integrity and also helping the BJP expand its support base beyond Jammu and Ladakh and achieving the Mission 44+ in the coming assembly elections. This was stated here today by state BJP General Secretaries Kavinder Gupta and Bali Bhagat and Prof Hari Om, Political Advisor to State BJP President (Jugal Kishore Sharma (MP), during the joint press conference, held at the party headquarters. “Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) was a long-pending demand of the people of Jammu province and the Narendra Modi Government and Finance and Defence Minister Arun Jaitley were very pleased to concede it. The Ladakhis have been struggling since years for a mega solar project and the Modi government conceded it and earmarked Rs 500 crore for the same,” the BJP leaders said, and added that Finance Minister Arun Jaitley focused an equal attention on Kashmir by recognizing the importance of pashmina industry there and other important crafts in the state. “A Pashmina Development Programme for Kashmir and a separate programme for development of other crafts of the state, with an allocation of Rs 50 crore, would a go a long way in promoting the pashmina industry and other crafts in the state,” they said, and added that the allocation of Rs 200 crore for the up-gradation of indoor and outdoor sports stadium to international standards both in Jammu and Kashmir will further provide invaluable opportunities to the sport-loving youth of the state to show their talent and compete with the youth of other parts of the country and even outside and bring laurels to Jammu & Kashmir. The BJP leaders also hailed the Union Government for its decision to earmark Rs 500 crore for a programme for the return and rehabilitation of internally-displaced Kashmiri Hindus and expressed the hope that the authorities in the state would take all the necessary steps to eradicate all fissiparous tendencies in the Valley so that the rehabilitated Kashmiri Hindus are not again persecuted and oppressed. “The authorities have to take cognizance of those circumstances which forced the minority community to quit Kashmir and ensure that all the undesirable elements are isolated and brought to justice,” they said, adding such an approach on their part would surely motivate, inspire and induce the displaced persons to go back to their original habitat. To go back to the Valley and lead there a peaceful and dignified life as respectable Indians is their natural right, the BJP leaders emphasized. The BJP leaders asserted that the BJP, unlike the NC, the Congress and the PDP, doesn’t discriminate between regions and communities and appealed to the people of Kashmir to reject the politics of autonomy and self-rule as being indulged in by the NC, the Congress and the PDP and join the BJP in large numbers so that they also become part of the national mainstream. They reassured the people of Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh that the BJP-led NDA Government at the centre would do more and more for the state in the coming days, as it is committed to ensuring its all-round development and progress. The BJP’s mantras are good governance, development, social harmony and communal amity and this is what the people of the militant-infested and troubled state long for. They expressed the hope that the people of Kashmir would seize the opportunity and make common cause with the BJP to open a new chapter of development in the state. The BJP leaders also took the opportunity to thank the national BJP leadership and the BJP MPs from the state Jugal Kishore Sharma, Dr Jitendra Singh, MoS PMO and Thupstan Cheewang for the role they played. ...
