BJP thrust on SiIiguri twin polls Siliguri, July 24: The BJP has decided to hold a conference of its state working committee in Siliguri in September, months after the party got a 20,000-plus lead in the Lok Sabha elections over Trinamul in the plains segments of the Darjeeling seat. The two-day conference will be held on September 6 and 7. “All members of the committee, senior state leaders and our two MPs from Bengal would be present at the conference. We will also invite our party’s observer of the state and some prominent central leaders,” Biswapriya Roy Choudhury, the state general secretary of the BJP, said. “We have performed excellently in the Parliament polls where people have spontaneously voted in favour of S.S. Ahluwalia. Another reason for holding the state conference here is the Siliguri Municipal Corporation and Siliguri Mahakuma Parishad polls. Workers… would be instructed to work on a specific political strategy,” the BJP state general secretary said. “In terms of the Lok Sabha poll results, we are ahead in 21 of the 47 wards…. People here are frustrated with the Congress, Trinamul and the Left Front and want change,” a senior district leader said. tt
