BLESSING INTO CURSE MEMORISE: ‘Then they said one to another, We do not well: this day is a day of good ridings, and we hold our peace: if we tarry till the morning light, some mischief will come upon us: now therefore come, that we may go and tell the king’s household.’ (2 Kgs 7-9). READ: 2 Kings 7: 7-10 During the siege at Samaria, after the lepers had entered the camp of the enemies and met no one, they helped themselves to as much spoil as they could carry until they told themselves they were not doing well keeping the good news of the provision from others. “Then they said one to another, We do not well: this day is a day of good tidings, and we hold our peace: if we tarry till the morning light, some mischief will come upon us: now therefore come, that we may go and tell the King’s household’ (2 Kgs 7:9). The four lepers came to a realization that if they refuse to let others partake of the blessing, it could become a curse. This is true. James 4:17 says he that knows t do good and does not do it, will have it counted to him as sin. Having tasted the sweetness that is in Christ, it becomes sin if you fail to inform others who also need this salvation, healing and deliverance. Tell others what they are missing. When someone who has been blessed refused to be a blessing to others, choosing rather to keep everything all to himself. God called him a fool and saw no need for him to live anymore. He died that night. His blessing had become a curse. When you stay unresponsive to the needs of others, your blessing can become a curse. In Luke 16: 19-26, we are told of the rich man who feasted daily. Lazarus, a poor beggar came to his gate to pick up from the dustbin. The rich man did not drive him away but neither did he show concern about his condition. This was the sin he committed. He could have given him decent food. He could have sent him for treatment, but he didn’t. so he died and left his wealth behind. You are asking for trouble if you refuse to tell your neighbours the way out of their problems. Arise from your nonchalance and begin to be a blessing to them. Let your goal be to bring joy into the lives of many, in order to glorify God’s Name. ACTION POINT Ask God to turn anything constituting a curse, reproach or shame in your life, family or ministry, into a blessing.
