BLM’s High Desert District plans to conduct several fires this spring depending on conditions. Areas include: Smith Mountain, Prospect Mountain, and Cherry Creek. The prescribed fires are designed to enhance rangeland and woodland vegetation health, improve wildlife habitat, increase livestock forage and distribution and reduce hazardous fuels by targeting stands of sagebrush, mountain shrubs, aspen and conifers. blm.gov/wy/st/en/info/news_room/2014/april/23hdd-rx.html
