BLUFRANK https://soundcloud/blufrank/mid-s-1 Where are you from? I come from the middle of nowhere , i am Egyptian , i live in cairo in a district called Maadi Since when you produce music? If we talkin about production with a goal , like , 3 months ago , but the first time i used a DAW , was years ago , was makin music for other Vocalists , but i knew i got that producer , since my first productions was so good , according to the ppl who used it , maybe not that complex , cuz i started out as a sample based producer , but it sounded right , i completley relay on my ears , no learning or tuts or stuff like that Believe in musical genre, if so, what genre do you consider your music? I do blv ln genres , but thats sumthin that describe the fundemental basis of somones music , i blv in sumthin else too which is u can have a signiture soud that draw many influences based on established genres , mine will be the 60s psych rock , 70s Disco music and 80s synth pop, and the 90s house music with alot of dream pop influences in the mix , but i do not go along with the retro producer cliche , its just a style that i liked , tryin to upgrade it , put lots of signiture sounds to it and i really tryin to push more than music here , i am tryin to push a big ass show , a big ass vision full of arts , What are your main influences? My main influences are moods , places , feelings and visuals that go round n round in my head , like all these endless nights , all the summers that i had , all the hard days that i ended it up with a deep sleep in the bus , driving . Add to that all the relationships that i been thru , and the things that i which that i have , the dreams that i have in my head , and of course good movies that i like , If u talkin about what genres influenced me . . . I guess that wil be Psych Rock , NeoPsych , Disco , Progressive Rock , Soft Rock , House Music , House Garage , Indie Rock and Dream Rock add to that pop music in general and some HipHop albums that i like. To what extent the artists that you hear influences the music that you produce? Hmmm , i guess to a great extent in an indirect and original way , what i mean is , i dont copy paste styles , let me set an example , i can learn from Daft Punk and Kanye West that u can beat the song that u used for sampling and using samples aint an easy shortcut to make music , but i dont search for the samples that they used , so i get influenced by the main principle not the sound , another example , i learned from The Beatles that i can do anything that i like with music , so i do that , but i dont go n search for the unorthodox stuff that they did n copy them , You often hear other independent projects? Yes i like hearing independent projects , actually i prefer anyone with a DIY feeling in his music more than anyone who got a label behind him or her polishing them sounds , not because i cant afford anything expt DIY music , but because i like an artist who controls his shit , plus when u do it yourself , it gives it a more human feel What is the greatest difficulty in music production? I dont knw really , maybe trying to get the sound in your head techinically right as a sound , cuz its dull to comprmise , it breaks ur heart too How you market your music? Market , i try to do my best , get frnds to work for me , semi pros and pros to work for me , i really depend on the ppl i knw , havnt paid to promote yet , but i got played in british in american and british radioes , n featured on music sites n blogs , i guess i am a bit lucky , but marketing is a field that i lack expirience at What tip would you give to those just starting out? The tip will be , its not about the DAW , its about whats in ur head
