BOISE -- A number of ceremonies, events, and free services for veterans and active duty military personnel are planned around the Treasure Valley Monday in honor of Veterans Day. CEREMONIES In Boise, Sen. Mike Crapos office will honor veterans and active duty military at the Idaho State Veterans Home. The event will include a presentation of the Spirit of Freedom, Idaho Veterans Service Awards, speakers, buglers and bagpipers. Idaho First Lady Lori Otter will be in attendance to read a governors proclamation. The event will start at 11 a.m. in the dining room of the Idaho State Veterans Home in Boise. At Bronco Stadium, the community is invited to a celebration honoring veterans for their service. The event will be held in the south end zone of Bronco Stadium from 11 a.m. noon Monday. The free event includes a presentation by Command Chief Master Sgt. Carlo Fenicottero, the senior enlisted member of the 124th Fighter Wing of the Idaho Air National Guard. A reception will be held in the Stueckle Sky Center Skyline Room immediately following his presentation. Free parking will be available in the west stadium parking lot. The College of Western Idaho will pay tribute to veterans, members of the United States armed forces, and their families with observance ceremonies being hosted at two CWI campus locations on Monday. The observance ceremonies will take place at: ? 11 a.m. at the CWI Ada County Center, 1360 South Eagle Flight Way, Boise ? 1 p.m. - CWI Nampa Campus Academic Building, 5500 East Opportunity Drive, Nampa Both ceremonies are open to the public and will feature a guest speaker, honor guard, singing of the national anthem by the CWI Choir, remarks by CWI President Dr. Bert Glandon, and refreshments. In addition, the Nampa event will feature the CWI Patriot Range as a ceremony backdrop. The Patriot Range is a display of more than 200 American flags. FOOD AND SERVICES A number of local restaurants and businesses will be offering free food and services to veterans and active duty military on Veterans Day, including: Tucanos Brazilian Grill - Free churrasco meal, plus additional 10 percent off entire bill for troops and veterans who dine with their families. The event runs from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Applebees - Free meal for veterans and active duty military at all Treasure Valley locations On The Border - Free Create Your Own Combo for veterans and active duty military. Great Clips - Free haircut for veterans and active duty military; veterans and military members can also pick up a free haircut card entitling them to a free haircut before December 31. Free oil changes - Three Treasure Valley businesses are teaming up to provide over $7,000 in free oil change services for veterans and active duty military personnel.
