She established herself as one of Hindi cinemas leading actresses, noted for both her comic and dramatic roles, her beauty, and her accomplished classical dancing. Making her acting debut in Sapno Ka Saudagar (1968), she was initially promoted as Dream Girl, and in 1977 starred in a film of the same name. Appearing in over 150 films in a career span of 40 years, Hema Malini was honoured with Padma Shri award and Filmfare Lifetime Achievement Award in the year 2000. She was nominated 11 times for the title of Best Actress and won the same in the year 1972
