BONUS ARTICLE FOR TODAY: YOU MUST BELIEVE IT AND OBEY IT! “He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved, but he that believeth not shall be damned” Mark 16:16. Why is there such a diversity of teaching concerning baptism and the salvation of the soul? Is it necessary for the alien sinner to be baptized? When people are taught the gospel and they acknowledge Christ as God’s Son and redeemer, at what point are they saved? Please examine very carefully these following statements and see if you have difficulty understanding them. 1. “He that believeth and is baptized shall be promoted to a better job”. 2. “He that believeth and is baptized shall be given a new automobile”. 3. “He that believeth and is baptized shall be given a month’s vacation”. 4. “He that believeth and is baptized shall be given a free trip to Hawaii”. 5. “He that believeth and is baptized shall be paid a thousand dollars”. 6. “He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved”, Mark 16:16. When we look at the first five, we can all see that they promise a certain reward to the one that has believed and has been baptized. It is easy to see that the reward cannot be claimed until both conditions of faith and baptism have been met. Now how about number six, is it any different? And if so, then why is it different? Can you understand the statements - all of them? I know that you can! Now the big question is, “Can you accept and obey it”? 1+1=2, believe it and accept it. Belief + baptism = salvation, believe it and accept it! Your salvation depends upon it.
