BORROWING MONEY CODE OF ETHICS (longest post ill ever do) Let me start by saying that I normally do lend money out to many of my friends and most pay back no problem, or even earlier than we agreed. I love to help out people and balance their finances in times of need. God has blessed me with nonstop full time employment since I was 18, and never been in great need. To my friends in the military that I would lend $, always had my money back the very next paycheck all the time. Never had a problem with any of my friends in the military. Recently I was about to explode with someone that borrow money a few months ago. Initially I didn’t want lend due to previous times, but had begged me since there was no other choice for this person. I think of myself as a calm person, but when someone takes advantage, I get very annoyed and start to lose it. I do know that sometimes there’s a time in need, or shit happens, but whenever you borrow money from me, please know that these points are important to me: 1) Know how much you owe- pisses me off that I need to take track of the $ that is owed. It is your responsibility to know how much. 2) Paying me back is not a favor you are making me. It is money that I let you borrow in time of need. Don’t expect anything in return, other than a verbal thank you. You cannot pay me back in the condition of borrowing more. 3) I don’t really give a FU(# if you go out and have fun, go on road trips and use my $.If you don’t pay me the day we agreed, or keep on pushing it month after month, then I take it personal. I should not be on the bottom of your bucket list. If you cant pay me, then its obvious you cannot spend on those luxuries. 4) I’m not a FU(#ing bank that you can pay whenever you want. I’m a human being. I’m a full time student with mortgage obligations and recently got a big car payment that its part of my budget. I work hard for the $ too. 5) Not too long ago someone told me they weren’t going to give me back $300 I loan them because it’s nothing for me. It pissed me off so bad, but eventually had it paid back. 6) If I don’t call you, doesn’t mean I don’t need the money. I don’t call you because I don’t want to stress you out, not because I have lots of extra money and don’t need it back. It is not my responsibility to reach out to you after you dont pay me. I really do take offense when I have to reach out. 7) If you are reading this and you owe me, please don’t take it personal or think I’m talking about you specifically, more than 10 people owe me $ and mostly everyone pay me back ahead of the agreed time. Well it’s a total of about $14.7k, some owe me less than $200, while a couple owe me over $5k. This list is a summary of everything that pisses me off. If I haven’t mentioned anything to you, I’m not talking about you. 8) Lastly, know that I’m paying interest for every month for that $ that I lend you. I am in credit card debt, and me lending you money, means I have to pay the creditors a good amount of % of the money I have loaned you. I know I will never see that money, and it’s something I’m willing to pay to help you out. So if you’re on this boat, please know that it is really affecting me. Whether it be interest on credit card, my car, or mortgage, $1 today is worth more than $1 tomorrow. If I loan you $ to fix a temporary problem, & you can’t pay me back within say 2 months, feel obligated to either get another job, spend less, or learn how to manage your budget. There are many luxuries that many take for granted, they are not necessities.
