BPD POLICE OFFICER TESTING ANNOUNCEMENT: READ THIS ANNOUNCEMENT VERY CAREFULLY – FAILURE TO FOLLOW INSTRUCTIONS WILL RESULT IN YOUR DISQUALIFICATION TO TAKE THE TEST Written tests for the position of Police Officer will be administered on Saturday, November 15, Wednesday, November 19, and Friday, November 21, 2014, (9:00 am on all dates) at the Singleton Community Center, 7266 Third Rd., Bartlett, TN. A physical agility test will be administered immediately after the written test for those that pass. Dress comfortably. Gym clothes are acceptable for the written test. After the Personnel Department has received your application, contact the Police Department at 901-385-5500 between the office hours of 9:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. Monday – Friday, and declare which day you prefer to test (Saturday, Wednesday or Friday). The deadline to contact us to declare a testing date is 4:00 p.m. on Monday, November 10, 2014. INFORMATION REQUIRED PRIOR TO TAKING THE TEST If you have ever been arrested, or convicted, or placed on diversion or had a charge(s) expunged for any laws relating to intoxication, force, violence, theft, dishonesty, gambling, liquor, beer, narcotics or controlled substances, you may not be considered for employment. You must contact us prior to taking the test if you meet any of the above criteria. If you were released from Military Service under anything other than Honorable Discharge, you must contact us also prior to taking the test. INSTRUCTIONS AND REQUIREMENTS TO BE ABLE TAKE THE TEST: On the testing date, you must show your Driver’s License and turn in a copy of your Driver’s License to testing personnel. We will not make a copy for you. Failure to follow this instruction will result in automatic disqualification. The testing will begin promptly at 9:00 a.m. on all dates. You must be seated and ready to take the test at 9:00 a.m. The door will be locked promptly at 9:00 and no one will be admitted into the testing area after the doors are locked. There are four (4) phases to the testing and each phase must be passed to move on to the next phase. Phase One: Written test. Minimum score of 70% is required to pass and go to Phase Two. Phase Two: Agility test. Same day as written test. Four parts. 20 pushups/1 minute; 20 sit-ups 1 minute; 300m dash/80 seconds; 1.5 mile run in 17 minutes. Each part must be passed to continue to Phase Three. Phase Three: Oral Assessment Board. Date to be announced. Candidates will be required to answer questions from a board of BPD members. The Oral Assessment Board will select the best candidates to interview with the Chief’s Interview Board. Phase Four: Chief’s Interview Board – Those applicants who are accepted to interview with the Chief’s Interview Board will be required to bring a current eye exam to Inspector Canon prior to to the Chief’s interview. Exam limits are 20/100 or better uncorrected in each eye, correctable to 20/20 each eye. Results greater than the above limits will result in disqualification.
