"BPO FIRM TO HIRE 200 IN BUKIDNON JOB CARAVAN" Business process outsourcing firm Concentrix is hiring 200 personnel in a Bukidnon job caravan set on Aug. 22 to 23 here. Concentrix, according to its website, “is a recognized leader in providing platforms, people and services to support high-value interactions at every stage of the customer lifecycle.” In tarpaulins, the firm announced the “urgent hiring” of 200 call center professionals during the caravan scheduled later this week at the Provincial Planning and Development Office (PPDO). Mayell Jumalon, a human resource management officer at the provincial government, told this reporter the firm had contacted them for coordination and for the use of space. Jumalon added that a Concentrix officer said they are hiring for the firm’s own personnel needs. She added that the 200 will include administrative and marketing officers, among others. According to its website, Concentrix, part of the SYNNEX Corporation, has 25 years experience in business process services. They identify themselves to be experts in technology, consumer electronics, gaming, broadcast and social media. The firm supports “the entire customer lifecycle with services to acquire, support and renew customer relationships.” Business process outsourcing career is also a priority in Bukidnon. The Bukidnon State University has fine-tuned its English language degree to cater to the needs of those seeking career paths beyond teaching the language. Dr. Hazel M. Abejuela, chair of the language and letters department of BSU’s College of Arts and Science, said earlier that they have upgraded the curriculum for its BA English course to respond to opportunities in the country, such as the call center industry. The new curriculum likewise caters to those who want to pursue teaching English, writing and editing, and public relations communication. Last April, the Commission on Higher Education declared BSU, along with the Ateneo de Zamboanga University and the University of Southeastern Philippines (USEP), as centers for development for English. The BPO industry is also considered a “priority investment” in Bukidnon, as promoted by the Bukidnon Kaamulan Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Inc. The industry has been added to the recently revised Bukidnon Investment Incentives Code. (Walter I.
