BRAKES .... Can I just take a minute to remind people to check the condition of their brake blocks regularly, poor braking caused by non existant brake pads is not only dangerous to yourselves but other riders with you .Id hate to see any body hurt or injured by this .Most blox have cut into them a groove wich serves to enhance the grip on the rim but also to tell you when this is no longer visable to replace them. For illustration purposes these are v brake cantiler pads if you cant see a groove then they need replacing. The other set are brake shoes with replacable pads which can be purchased either seperately as pads or as a complete units . The last image shows some badly worn brake blocks which are known technicaly in bike shops as FKD. When fitting new blox ensure they hit the alloy rim and not the tyre and they are set up parrallel to the rim Also its a good idea to frequently check there are no bits of stone stuck in them , as this will cut into and score mark your rims. REMEMBER ...Its good to ride its also good to stop.
