BREAKING: LIVERPOOLS MAURITIUS TRIP IN DOUBT - Mauritius friendly in doubt after pitch fears. Liverpools end-of-season trip to Mauritius is hanging in the balance. The Reds have been in talks over playing a lucrative friendly on the island off the south east coast of Africa on May 18. However, the Liverpool delegation who visited Mauritius last week raised serious fears about the state of the pitch. A South African company who specialise in golf courses has now been signed up to immediately start work on the playing surface. Unless there is a significant improvement then the authorities in Mauritius have been told Liverpool’s visit won’t go ahead. A final decision is expected within the next fortnight. The Reds had planned to fly straight to Mauritius following their friendly against Shamrock Rovers in Dublin on May 14. With the May 18 date already agreed with Brendan Rodgers, Liverpool are likely to look at alternative destinations for a fixture if they pull the plug on the game in Mauritius. Source Liverpool Echo
