BREAKING NEWS!!!! Baltimore, MD - American Indoor Football (AIF), is proud to announce that the Saginaw Sting will be joining the league for the 2015 season. The Saginaw Sting, located in the Great Lakes Bay Region of Michigan, are owned and operated by Robert Licht, Jim O’Brien and Stuart Schweigert. The Sting will enter their 7th season of play this coming spring under the guidance of newly appointed head coach Greg Wasmer. The Sting prides itself in continuing to follow their mission statement that was created by the ownership group when they took over the team in November of 2011. “Sting Football, LLC is the principle owner of a Professional Indoor Football Team that plays at The Dow Event Center in Saginaw, MI. It is the goal of Sting Football to evaluate the talent around the Great Lakes Bay Region and to put not only a talented team on the field, but one that is filled with solid off-field character. A win on the field is good, but a win in life is great. Sting Football plans to be a strong character builder in the community, not only in the game of football but the game of life. Sting Football, LLC plans to serve the community with Pride and Passion as a quality example of individual and team excellence on the field, in the office, at the arena, and within the community by consistently exceeding fans expectations by demonstrating the highest character, appreciation and respect for the game.” Saginaw’s home games are played at The Dow Event Center on Draper Auto Field in front of an average of nearly 3,000 fans per game. The Sting are one of a handful of indoor teams to ever win a championship in multiple leagues (CIFL in 2008, UIFL 2011, CIFL 2012) and will look to add another banner to the rafters in 2015. “We are extremely proud to have Saginaw in the AIF,” said AIF Owner John Morris, “We have been in negotiations for some time now and it’s a great feeling to have such a strong ownership group come into the AIF.” The AIF is still in the process of announcing teams that will participate in the 2015 season (current teams include Atlanta, Buffalo, Cleveland, Carolina, Reading, Washington, and York). “We had a great year so far with expansion,” said AIF Director of Operations Larry Clark. “All of our teams have tremendous potential and opportunity.” The AIF will hold its annual owners meetings October 23rd & 24th in Columbus, OH. Clark said decisions on divisions will be made at that time. An official 2015 schedule will be released in November. For more information on the Saginaw Sting please visit saginawsting.
