BREAKING NEWS: FEDERAL DISTRICT COURT JUDGE IN WASHINGTON STRIKES DOWN REMAINING US DEPARTMENT OF LABOR REGULATIONS DEALING WITH COMPANIONSHIP SACRAMENTO, CA [CDCAN LAST UPDATED 01/14/2015 – 1:39 PM Pacific Time] – Federal District Court Judge Richard Leon struck down the entire remaining package of US Department of Labor home care regulations dealing with changes to the home care companionship definition that was originally set to go into effect January 1, 2015, in a court hearing in Washington DC late this afternoon. The judge “vacated” the remaining regulations, dealing with companionship. On December 22nd the same judge struck down key provisions of those regulations dealing with third party employers who hire home care workers. The US Department of Labor previously indicated it was considering an appeal, and has 60 days from today to do so. CDCAN will issue a full report within the hour.
