BREAKING NEWS: FIFA SUSPENDS CAMEROON 04/07/2013 CONDEMNING GOVERNMENT INTERFERENCE, THE EMERGENCY COMMITTEE OF THE FEDERATION WANTS TO IMPOSE A NORMALIZATION COMMITTEE TO FECAFOOT. READ THE PRESS FIFA The FIFA Emergency Committee decided today, 4 July 2013, to temporarily suspend the Cameroon Football Federation (Fécafoot) with immediate effect on the grounds of governmental interference. Articles 13 and 17 of the FIFA Statutes require Member associations to manage their affairs independently and without the influence of others. A standards committee will be constituted under Article 7 para. 2 of the FIFA Statutes to revise the statutes of the Fécafoot and hold new elections by March 31, 2014 while managing current affairs. Administration of FIFA, together with CAF, will be responsible identify and appoint the members of standardization. Standards Committee will act as electoral body, and its decisions shall be final and binding. Its members will be eligible for any open position. The suspension will be lifted once the Cameroonian authorities have allowed the standards committee to enter the headquarters of the Fécafoot and able to carry out its mission without hindrance. President of CAF, Issa Hayatou has not taken part in the vote in order to avoid any conflict of interest. Throughout the duration of the suspension, Fécafoot can not be represented in any regional competition, continental or international, including club competitions, not more than in friendlies. Finally, neither the Fécafoot nor any of its members and officials will not benefit from development programs, courses or training from FIFA or CAF during the suspension period.
