*BREAKING NEWS* It is with deep regret and sadness that we here at RPW have to announce the following; Due to the injuries suffered behind the wheel of his 410 Sprint Car this evening at Bridgeport Speedway, Jason Leffler has passed away. Leffler was a stand out in the ranks of open wheel racing where he started his career. Winning three consecutive USAC Midget Championships from 1997 to 1999, along with the coveted Silver Crown title in 1998, it became apparent that the bright young man from Long Beach, California, was destined for greater things. Jason would make his first, and only start, in the Indianapolis 500 in May, 2000. By then, he had the attention of many top NASCAR teams and quickly made the jump to the upper echelon of the sport he had come to love. There are no words to describe the infinite sadness that is to follow the loss of a loved one. Jason Leffler, by all accounts, was a shining light in the sport and more importantly, a gentleman in an age where they are harder and harder to come by. From all of us here at RPW, our condolences and prayers go out to all the family members, friends, crew members and fans of Jason. God bless.
