BREAKING NEWS Tension Mounts Over Aregbesolas Move to Upturn Result of Osun Senatorial Primaries Tension is mounting against alleged plans by the Governor of the State of Osun, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola to upturn the result of the Modified Primaries conducted by the All Progressives Party (APC), for the Ife/Ijesa Senatorial District seat in favour of the defeated incumbent, Senator Babajide Omoworare. Delegates and party members are set for a show down after news started making the rounds that a decision had been taken by the governor to impose Omoworare as the candidate of the party after he was defeated by Alhaji Sola Lawal by 17 votes to three. Delegates made up of 13 State Executive Members and nine leaders of the party from the Senatorial District, who had to elect a candidate from five aspirants, at the primaries conducted in Osun Government House, cast majority of their votes for Lawal. The votes for other aspirants was two for Kunle Adeniji and none for Barrister Gbenga Awosode and Olusola Ojutalayo Ibidapo Obe. Supporters of Lawal, on hearing that the governor met with some party leaders immediately the primaries ended, where he made his intention known, have started mobilising resistance to the move. They insisted that Lawal remains their choice as the incumbent was not a good representative of the district at the National Assembly. Describing Lawal as a credible and more reliable party member, who possesses qualities of a good leader, the aggrieved APC members vowed to stop Omoworares return. We are not threatening our partys leadership and we will not take laws into our hands.
