BREAKING NEWS from Rick Pluta regarding pet-coke controversy: The Michigan Department of Environmental Quality has denied permission for a company to store pet coke at a location on the Detroit River. Pet coke is a by-product of refining petroluem. The permit denial letter says Detroit Bulk Storage did not have an adequate plan to control potentially toxic blowing dust. The company can still submit a new plan to the state.
