/////////////////////////////// BREAKING NEWS//////////////////////// The Prime Minister has won a victory in court as the new Police Commissioner tells court the Royal PNG Constabulary consents to the PM’s request for a stay on the arrest warrants. Judge Ere Kariko ruled at 11am that he accepted the change of lawyer, from the previous one, Nicholas Miviri to Paul Mawa, to represent the Police Force in the matter. Then, the new Police Commissioner Geoffrey Vaki through the new police lawyer Paul Mawa informed the court that he consented on behalf of the force to the Prime Minister’s request for a stay on the arrest warrants that were issued for Mr O’Neill last Thursday. This means that fraud squad detectives who had formally asked the Prime Minister to present for an interview on questions to do with payments to Paraka Lawyers, will no longer be able to enforce the warrants and arrest Mr O’Neill. The matter has been adjourned to the 25th of June for lawyer Paul Mawa to properly file submissions on behalf of the police force. The interim restraining orders remain till then. -
