BROWN SKIN The transatlantic slave trade took place starting in the 16 century, the brown skinned became property. ...while traveling with the ships they were labeled as cargo, when they touched land they were considered a negro. This transatlantic slave trade started in the (Old World) Europe, Asia and Africa, ending in the (New World) of North America and South. ...taken from home on a trip, in the bottom of a slave ship, to a land where they were considered to be a third of a man. ...because their skin were brown, beaten til their blood covered the ground. ...whacks to the backs of the people, that were the roots of my family tree. ...shackles on their feet as the wailing of the people modified, the oppressors strong armed and continued to beat them through the generations, throughout history. ...with a noose around their necks, as their brown bodies hung from a tree, their breaths cut short and their eyes bulging out, theres a crowd with fire in their hands and profanity they continue to shout. I like to give homage and thank the Lord for those that came through the middle passage. (Written by Andre Smith: 2/19/2014)
