BUHARI/OSIBANJO TICKET! On one hand I like the choice of APC candidate Professor Osibanjo! I am glad that for once we have a change in the fact that an Economist is getting a shot at the Vice President ticket; the highest office within the Presidency that anyone of that nature would attain to. .However, I do not share the sentiments that Buhari had to emerge as the party Presidential Candidate at all cost. I see no reason why if Tinubu could be persuaded to shelve his idea of being the President or Vice why Buhari could not his, seeing both are the driving force behind the party and that both being elders could have played an advisory role. On the other hand, however, I could have settled for a Buhari/Tinubu ticket. I am not impressed by the probable likelihood of the dictatorial tendencies of Buhari emerging while in office and I would have thought that Tinubu, considering the role in the party is the only the person that can checkmate him. With the way the North has being systematically been reduced to dust with the activities of Boko Haram under President GEJs administration (which in turn claims to be helpless regardless) we cannot afford a revenge prone Northern leader, who is of the opinion that the bombing of the North is orchestrated by the Presidency at the helm of affairs of the country. If not anything else, Tinubu has won my sympathy to the extent that he could shelve his ambition in the light superior advice from the masses. Buhari at 73 however, rather than play the role of an elder statesman refused to shelve his, and did/does not feel the need to do so. And no, I do not share the belief that the much touted (although genuine) integrity and honesty of Buhari is the best USP APC could come up with. A good paring based on the performance of Fashola with a highly respected Christian candidate as VP from the South South would have been a good sell for APC any day. But now we are left with little or no choice from same same as presented by both political parties.
