BUHARIS BONEHEADED ATTEMPT AT FIGHTING CORRUPTION. No sooner had Buhari and his hatchet man Tunde Idiagbon forced their way into power that they decided on raiding warehouses in Lagos and other major cities to flood the market with scarce goods and commodities. Who did Buhari choose to do this? Soldiers! The dramatic irony of the whole thing is that the soldiers that were chosen to flood the market with goods that business men and traders had spent their precious and hard earned money to buy ended up selling the goods to relatives and others who were willing to buy at their price. These goods were actually seized in some cases and the traders and warehouse owners were never compensated for their seized goods. Buhari hasnt changed since those dark days of decree 2 and hoarding. In his recent channels interview when asked about the unstable price of oil, he calmly assured the interviewer that he would stabilize oil prices. After 30 years and the huge failure of his regime, he still thinks that economics can be controlled by the use of force. We as a country are at a point where we have to decide if we want to continue practicing democracy or go back to the days when Nigerians were cajoled or forced to do things even if it was against their will. The beauty of democracy is this, that even if our officials are lazy, waste all the time in the world in reaching a consensus or are much ado about nothing, they are all that we have because, collectively they are able to propel our country forward with the passing and implementation of laws. Our legislators also represent the will of a majority of our people. This is the only way forward. We cannot afford to put our destiny in the hands of one man but must attempt to collectively forge our way forward. Granted that our democracy is at its crude stage with the main problem being that corruption is rife and elections are not totally free and fair. This is the challenge that we face as a nation to ensure that elections are free and fair and to start tackling and pointing out the issue of corruption but what we wouldnt do is loose our individual freedoms and liberty in order to achieve this. Vote a democrat to move the country forward. Vote GEJ.
