BUILD YOUR HOUSE ON THE ROCK “Whosoever cometh to me, and heareth my sayings, and doeth them, I will shew you to whom he is like: He is like a man which built an house, and digged deep, and laid the foundation on a rock: and when the flood arose, the stream beat vehemently upon that house, and could not shake it: for it was founded upon a rock.” (Luke 6:47-48) The Lord Jesus revealed two kinds of men in Luke 6:47: one, He said, dug deep and built his house on the rock, while the other built his house without a foundation—on the sand (Luke 6:49). When the floods arose and beat against the house built on the rock, the house remained unshaken. But when the floods arose against the house built on the sand, the Bible says it fell immediately and was ruined completely. Jesus used this allegory to explain that the man who built his house on the rock is the man who hears the Word of God and puts it to work, while the man who built his house on the sand is the man who hears the Word of God but doesn’t do what it says. It’s important you note that the ‘house’ Jesus talked about is your life and whatever else is connected to you. You build your life through the words you speak and the things you do. The question is: what foundation are you building on? Jesus has shown us the way to build our lives on the solid rock—by doing God’s Word. It’s not enough just to hear the Word; you have to ‘do’ what it says; you have to act on it irrespective of your feelings or the circumstances. That way, you build your life upon the rock, and no negative force or circumstance can prevail against you. When the floods of fear, sickness, lack, and want beat against you, you’ll remain standing! Remember, the foundation is what makes the difference. Both houses in the illustration were confronted by the same flood, but the one without foundation came to ruin. Make up your mind to be a doer of the Word. That’s where the profiting is. That is what will keep you standing when all else fails. That is what will keep you on the solid foundation of success and prosperity. Prayer: Dear Father in heaven, I thank you for teaching me your word. Your word is indeed my sure foundation. As I speak and do the word, my life is being built on the solid rock therefore the floods of fear, sickness, lack, and want cannot prevail against me in Jesus Name. Amen.
