Alarms are NOT a physical barrier, but they can detect entry and can notify neighbors, a central monitoring agency and you of a burglary. Lighting is important because burglars do not like a well lit target. • Research several alarm companies and request a system which best fits your needs.. • Hire a professional to install your alarm. • Post clearly visible alarm signage on your property. This often discourages burglars. • Test your system regularly. • Train your staff to avoid false alarms. • Use low-watt lights inside and bright lights outside. • Illuminate all entry points and exterior sides of your business. Include alley and parking lot.
