BWgovernment BOTSWANA NATIONAL ASSEMBLY ORDER PAPER FRIDAY 21ST NOVEMBER, 2014 MINISTER’S QUESTION TIME • Minister of Health - THEME: EBOLA CONTROL MEASURES IN BOTSWANA (Mr.B. Arone, MP. – Okavango) QUESTIONS 1. MR. P. BUTALE, MP. (GABORONE CENTRAL): To ask the Minister of Education and Skills Development whether it is true that cost sharing and/or school fees will be introduced at tertiary level under the Human Resource Development Council; if so, how will this affect the education system. 2. MR. W. B. MMOLOTSI, MP. (FRANCISTOWN SOUTH): To ask the Minister of Infrastructure, Science and Technology to give an update on the progress made so far at the Francistown Stadium and when it will be fully completed. 3. MR. P. MAJAGA, MP. (NATA-GWETA): To ask the Minister of Lands and Housing if he is aware that despite several assurances by relevant authorities, the issue of shortage of land at Nata, Gweta, Sepako and Maposa has not been resolved; if so, when will this long standing issue be resolved. 4. DR. T. M. MMATLI, MP. (MOLEPOLOLE SOUTH): To ask the Minister of Health if she is aware of the shortage of linen (i.e., blankets and sheets) at Scottish Livingstone Hospital; if so, what is she planning to do to resolve the problem. 5. MR. P. BUTALE, MP. (GABORONE CENTRAL): To ask the Minister of Education and Skills Development whether he is aware that the University of Botswana students are forced to use their book allowance at a designated book store; if so:- (i) why are the students not allowed the freedom to source the required books from alternative book stores; and (ii) are there any plans to review the book allowance and living allowance of tertiary students. 6. MR. W. B. MMOLOTSI, MP. (FRANCISTOWN SOUTH): To ask the Minister for Presidential Affairs and Public Administration:- (i) how much money was spent from the Government coffers by His Excellency the President and his entourage while campaigning for the Botswana Democratic Party; (ii) to state the amount spent on fuel for the aircrafts and vehicles; and (iii) whether it is proper for the military aircraft to be used for partisan politics. 7. MR. P. MAJAGA, MP. (NATA-GWETA): To ask the Minister of Lands and Housing when the invitation for bids and/or allocation of the Dukwi arable commercial ranches will be done. 8. DR. T. M. MMATLI, MP. (MOLEPOLOLE SOUTH): To ask the Minister of Health when a 24 hour service clinic will be established in the Molepolole South Constituency in keeping with Government’s policy of bringing services closer to the people. 9. MR. P. BUTALE, MP. (GABORONE CENTRAL): To ask the Minister of Defence, Justice and Security to state progress made on the development of a revised structure for the Department of Prisons Services. 10. MR. W. B. MMOLOTSI, MP. (FRANCISTOWN SOUTH): To ask the Minister for Presidential Affairs and Public Administration whether the Presidential walkabouts are official or political. NOTICE OF MOTIONS AND ORDERS OF THE DAY MOTIONS 1. APPOINTMENT OF A TASK TEAM TO ESTABLISH IF ALL PRIVATE TERTIARY INSTITUTIONS IN BOTSWANA HAVE ATTAINED REQUIRED ORGANISATIONAL ATTRIBUTES - “That this Honourable House requests Government to appoint a Task Team to establish whether all private tertiary institutions in Botswana have attained all the required organisational attributes to provide quality tertiary education.” (Mr. B. Arone, MP. – Okavango) 2. GOVERNMENT TO STOP THE SYSTEM OF NOMINATION OF COUNCILLORS - “That this Honourable House requests Government to stop the system of nominated Councillors in Botswana.” (Mr. W. B. Mmolotsi, MP. – Francistown South) 3. INTRODUCTION OF MULTI-LINGUAL NEWS BROADCASTING - “That this Honourable House requests Government to introduce multi-lingual news broadcasting in all languages with developed orthographies.” (Mr. B. Arone, MP. – Okavango) 4. GOVERNMENT TO PAY ALL COSTS RELATED TO SERVICING OF LAND - “That this Honourable House requests Government to pay all costs related to the servicing of land so that the role of Botswana Housing Corporation is limited to the construction of houses only, thereby enabling the Corporation to achieve its core mandate of delivering affordable accommodation to average citizens.” (Mr. F. M. M. Molao, MP. – Shashe West) 5. REVIEW OF THE FOOT AND MOUTH CONTROL STRATEGIES - “That this Honourable House resolves to request Government to review the Foot and Mouth control strategies as the current measures have failed to address the disease and has crippled the Ngamiland Region’s beef industry.” (Mr. B.
