Babri demolition: Kashmir lawmaker asks Modi to apologize On the 22nd anniversary of Babri Masjid demolition Saturday, a Kashmir lawmaker asked Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi to apologize to the Muslims and blamed New Delhis stubborn attitude’ over spurt in militant attacks in the mountainous region. Abdul Rashid, who is the lawmaker from Langate in Kupwor district, said in a statement: “Modi should apologize to Muslims and hand them the Mosque land back and set the history right by initiating a meaningful justice process with reference to Babri Mosque demolition.” On December 06, 1992, thousands of Hindu rioters from various extremist organizations demolished the historic mosque at Ayodha in Uttar Pradesh. Rashid alleged that India’s stubborn attitude is the cause of violence in the region and expressed sympathies with the families of slain persons. Whosoever gets killed in violence or encounters is the baggier of history and stubborn attitude of India. I express my complete solidarity with pain of families of killed persons in series of violence related episodes irrespective of their ideologies and affiliations,” he said. The lawmaker said India should not overplay the voter turnout and be boastful in approach and understand the human sufferings of one lakh killed Kashmiris and solve Kashmir issue by initiating meaningful dialogues. “It is matter of shame that even after such human carnage in Kashmir Indian leadership is shying away from realistic dialogue to solve Kashmir,” he said. He asked India to invite United Jihad Council (UJC) – an amalgam of militant organizations fighting in Kashmir. “Let Government of India (GOI) shun the arrogance and invite UJC and other relevant parties for a meaningful dialogue to resolve Kashmir,” he added.
