Bachpan - Back to School - Guruvandana Remembering the golden days of my school. 1983-85 SSLC batch Govt Chintamanrao High School, Belgaum In 2008 my schoolmates decided to felicitate me for my Victory as an MLA, I said instead of felicitating me, let us all felicitate our teachers who made us Gems. All agreed, but many schoolmates and teachers had settled far from Belgaum and mostly were retired from their service. We traced everyone including Mr. Baburao who used to ring our school bell during those days and finally decided to celebrate Guruvandana in sept 2009 a 2days event. With this reason we all batch mates organized a get together at Chintamanrao High School and discussed our achievements and ventures in past 25 years. Also had interaction with all the teachers, after knowing our journey they wept, those tears were of happiness that all their passed out students are well settled. The next day morning we wore school uniform (newly stitched), we headed towards Ravis Pan shop and bought few Chakkis, Chamman, Jigalis, and paid him 10paise 20paise coins(which we paid 25 yrs ago, even though 10 paisa, 20 paisa currency isnt accepted these days). Then we entered the school campus, the prayer was conducted by Bhandari sir (same sir who conducted it 25 years ago). After the prayer regular classes were conducted by same teacher who conducted our classes 25years back (Charantimath madam), she took our regular attendance Roll number wise (same roll nos 25years ago). Same syllabus and same punishment for not answering questions was given to us, we loved it. In PE class we enjoyed playing Volleyball and Kabaddi which was conducted by Aptekar Sir (same sir conducted PE classes 25years ago). Afternoon 3pm was the main time to felicitate and Honor our teachers by giving them couple of surprises in which a box included pen, chalk piece, duster, salary slip photocopy of the salary they drew 25 years ago and a silver plate. All school mates were given a memento which included compass box, peacock feather, moti (pearl) and individual school attendance photo copy of 25 years ago. To ensure our memory remains with Chintananrao High School, raised fund of 1crore and built 8 classrooms with CCTV and announcement mic speaker system, Air conditioned staffroom, Air conditioned Principal cabin and tried to make it a Hi-tech school by installing smart boards and dedicated it to our teachers. I have done many political programs, functions in my social-political journey, but nothing gave me such happiness and pleasure which Guruvandane a 2days event in the year 2009 gave me. I wish everyone honors their teachers and try to develop the school where you spent your golden moments.
