Back Deck Report: Another great nite for porch or deck sitting on this third day of fall. It was a warm nite until about thirty minutes after the midnight hour. Gusts of wind would drop in about every ten minutes and shake the treetops for a minute or so. Enough to make my flag stand at attention with a snap or two. Then as suddenly as it appeared it was gone to visit other places. It also brought in the cooler temp which gave me a little shiver but it quickly passed. The cool made the crickets pause for a few moments before they started up again but on a quieter note. One tree frog still singing away as if to ignore the changes coming soon. Still made for a enjoyable nite. The three quarter moon low in the east shining bright thru the trees. Some stars out tonite showing thru the breaks in the partly cloudy sky. One lone hoot owl making his presence known far in the distance. I guess the lb season is over as I have seen none in quite a while so I will hold off on a count until next year. I will say that being able to count them individually makes me sad because there was a time that it was beyond human ken to be able to do so. No skeeters to speak of as I sat outside contemplating the things I will attempt to accomplish on the morrow. I know the futility of making plans for these tasks but I still go forward with optimism. Just hardheaded that way I guess. Lb Count: No more till spring. Skeeter count:0.
