Back Story Friday – Kylee Since my instrumental song Kylee has been getting a lot of attention lately, I decided I would tell the story of how it came about! Kylee is my granddaughter and I wrote this song for her in 2000, when she was just a baby. It started out as a melody I hummed to her, mostly to lull her to sleep. When I created the song, I wanted to keep the melody line intact because the melody is what I hummed to Kylee over and over... What I decided to do was to change the chord structure underneath. At first, it starts with a slight variation in the supporting chords and then it moves gradually into more dramatic chord changes underneath the same melody. Cant believe that Kylee is 13 and an 8th-grader now! She is growing up to be an amazing young woman! Where does the time go? The song still reminds me of those simple, peaceful times when I would hold Kylee in my arms (when she was little) and I hummed this very melody to her!
