Back from chasing with Kurt Hulst in northern Indiana. Ahhhh, it felt so good! I was quite bummed about not being able to chase do to my finances, but Kurt invited me to join him. Thanks so much, Kurt! No whirlies, but we caught a couple mesos, a funnel cloud (Kurt thinks maybe two), and some interesting structure down in Indiana. Then back in Michigan, heading north up US 31 near Saint Joseph, things got really interesting. We started seeing power flashes, looked at the radar, and realized that we were moving toward the apex of a box echo. Tracked with it east down I-94 to US-131 and then north, experiencing crazy, shifting winds and watching a progression of green and red power flashes for quite a few miles. Intense and very cool. I needed this!
