Back in 2009 I spent a weekend learning Olympic Weightlifting from Coach Burgener. The first day we practiced for 8 hours on the Snatch. One whole day dedicated to one movement and all its intricacies. Teaching a group to Squat, while very doable, is extremely difficult. The class participants are all going to have their own mobility issues. It will take time. More time than some people want to invest. If most people accepted that the time being spent learning was more important than doing some CrossFit style workout they would see greater benefits overall. Doing something you barely know how to do for high reps and under the pressure of time can and will lead to more problems. Couple that will the competition environment inherent to most CF style fitness classes and you have the perfect recipe for dysfunction. For those of you that are not aware, CF is not a program. It was just a theory. an idea. Learn, practice and then apply. Rinse and repeat.
