Back in on the 8th of march in 2009 my son was born at 10.06pm weighing 10lb exactly and was a day early, the pregnancy was straight forward with no problems at all being our first child. During my my wifes labour she struggled a lot as the baby weight that expected was about 8lb, as my son was born he was lifeless, no cry no scream, at this point the midwife pushed the emergency button and an alarm went off and a team of doctors came running in to try and save my sons life, they immediately ran him to SCBU and put him on a life support machine, this image will be burned in to my brain forever. The doctors and nurses who looked after our son in SBCU were incredible, the level of care they gave our son is hard to put into words. After various tests, scans, they found my son had a bleed on the brain and had it not been for the quick actions of the doctors that night my son would have died. he would have not survived the trip to Carmarthen, After speaking to a few doctors who looked after our son that night my son was born, i asked them what would have happened if it was a midwife lead unit, as the pregnancy was totally straight forward, there answer was simple, he would have died, this is our little dude now and then
