Back in the day, at this time of the year, a lot of the Chelsea kids were getting ready to make their first Holy Communion. We had a lot of Catholic schools in the area back then. We were prepared to go and make our first Confession... which was so scary! And our parents followed the ritual of dressing us up. The girls looked like mini-brides and the boys wore a big white bow on their arm. Does anyone know why the boys wore that bow? To this day, I dont know the significance. We all had flowers, and we all went for professional studio pictures afterwards. Some of us had parties afterwards, or went to a restaurant for a luncheon. It was an event... and costly, but nothing compared to todays elaborate expenses. The dresses have become more outrageously pricey, and so has everything else. I dont think its what the good Lord had in mind when He said Do this in remembrance of me. What do you think?
