Back to School Tip 11 of 21: Work Extra Hours You should do everything you can now to earn extra money. Sure you might be able to keep your part time job while you are going to school. That is fine, but once school starts, you will not be able to invest the amount of time you can while on summer break. If you can squirrel away a nice chunk of change over the summer, then you can buy those special wants and go to those awesome parties when school is in session. The trick is to not spend it when you are paid. Hold onto it. Save it. Use it on things that have a greater value, more meaning or to just have a lot more fun. How do you get the extra hours? That’s easy. Ask for them. I don’t mean ask once and hope something happens. I would go to your boss every week and ask for more hours. When he or she sees that you are serious about working, you will be one of the first people they think about when someone calls out sick or a special project comes along. They want people who want to work, not just people who want to draw a paycheck. Work hard and show them what you can do.
