Back to basics. What was traditionally Tamil New Year until 2008, - TopicsExpress

Back to basics. What was traditionally Tamil New Year until 2008, was heavily propagated as Chitthirai Putthaandu (New Year) by the media for the past few years. The confusion was sparked by a political change in Tamil Nadu India and Ponggal (14th January) was claimed as the 1st day of Tamil New Year. However, this was rectified in 2011, in Tamil Nadu. Say Iniya Tamil Putthaandu Vaazhthugal and NOT Chitthirai Putthaandu. Please dont get confused.
