Bad Day Protocol Tips: 1. Lay low. Buy yourself some time. Don’t address what doesn’t require attention when you’re in this energy. In fact, make some space for yourself to just feel bad. Take the day off, cancel appointments, don’t answer emails, let co-workers lunch without you. Engaging life when we feel obligated to pretend we’re fine (or exacerbating the bad vibe by including others in it) can be even more exhausting than it already is. Go on the down low instead. 2. Roll with it. Do you know how to have a bad day? This is your chance to embrace it! After all, this is where all the good stuff comes from – from this contrast. There’s nothing wrong with it – it’s actually an essential part of the process. Rather than judge it, roll with it. It actually can be entertaining to let yourself go with it. 3. Remember it’s temporary. It’s easy to resist the funk because we think we’ll be here forever if we don’t hold it at bay. But that routine doesn’t work. Know that it won’t be like this always and it’s okay to feel how you feel now.
