Bad roads warranted slower speed limits on our streets in the past, no question, however thanks to the efforts of our town staff and elected officials, we now have new paved streets in much of the town and it looks great ! I therefore respectfully ask the question: Is there any evidence to suggest reduced speed limits are now necessary? I know some will say people with drive 60 if the speed limit is 50 so posting 40 will get you 50. It is a safety issue Is speeding that much of a problem on our town streets and is this reduction going to address that concern if there is one? I see our local RCMP officers regularly patrolling our town streets, enforcing traffic regulations. Speeding does not appear to be a major problem, I could be wrong and I am sure if I am I will be corrected. I therefore suggest, in the interest of efficient traffic movement, restoring previously posted speed limits should be in order?
