Baha Dogramaci was born 01.19.1920 in Istanbul. His father Mustafa comes from the family Erbili Dogramacizade. Baha Dogramaci finished his elementary school in Ankara, there he went also to high school, but on his fathers initiative in the second year of high school, he joined the school in Amasya. He graduated then high school in Istanbul. At Istanbul University, Department of Literature he attended the lectures of famous professors like Ali Nihat Tarlan, Ali Canip Yontem, Ismail Hikmet Ertaylan, Ahmet Caferoglu, Resit Rahmeti Arata, Saadettin Buluc, Ahmet Hamdi Tanpinar, Mehmet Kaplan, Ragip Hulusi Ozden, Kilis Rifat Bilge, Ahmet Tarzi, Sadeddin Nuzhet Ergun ... During his studies, he was very interested in calligraphy and attended classes with Professor Halim Ozyazici – studying the calligraphies: Sulus , naskh, taliq and riqa. His graduation thesis was History of old Turkish literature and Niyaz-i Misri . In 1947 he served the army in Amasya and in 1949 he married with Melika Oner, a colleague at the university.v Together they have two sons Ahmet Sena and Mehmet Vefa . From the 1949 to 1955 he worked at the General Directorate of Istanbuls Institute for Social Security. In 1955, he was appointed as inspector and there performed this function for 26 years. In September 1981 he voluntarily retired . In 1982, he begins to teach old Turkish ( Ottoman Turkish) at Mimar Sinan University, and in 1995 year instead of Ottoman Turkish begins to teach paleography (writings of the Ottoman protocol , sultan firmans, fatawa of the Şeyhu- l-Islam, official records of the ownership of property and endowments ). In 2011 voluntarily leaves the service . Baha Dogramaci has published a number of works in various scientific fields , especially in the field of tasawwuf . 1. Niyazi Misri 2. Ask sizintilari 3. Irfan sizintilari 4. Ali Gorundu Gozum 5. Many unpublished treatises and written presentations He is an expert commentator of Tasawwuf and related works. One of the most educated connoisseurs of Sufism. He knows Arabic, Persian and Ottoman Turkish. In his 92th of life he still holds lectures on Sufism and comments on the most important Sufi works.
