Baker Johnson had the inevitable task of rifling through his late uncles worldly possessions upon his death in 1925. Normally kept in a locked space in the rear of the inherited apartment dubbed The Black Room, Baker Johnson was chagrined to discover that the general public was encouraged to step in and seize whatever they wished, via a letter penned by his dying uncle. Both uncle and nephew were scientists, involved in phychical research, in which malevolent forces and wicked spirits would haunt homes by way of manifestation into inanimate objects. These were then taken to be stored in the aforementioned Black Room. Uncle Baker, paranoid due to his dementia, not only sent these haunted objects to those whom he carried a grudge, but unleashing this evil unto the world was his prime objective. For instance, the complex superintendent, who moonlighted as a writer, chose a cursed quill and inkwell and began to compose the most disturbing prose. A female worker who cared and cleaned for Uncle Baker selected a seemingly ancient cookbook. Each meal cooked by her caused violent illness and got worse the more she prepared the food. Baker Johnson, aware of the calamity and still grief-stricken over the loss of his wife and daughter to illness brought upon by these possessed objects, professed a simple solution: The blessing of ones abode by a priest should take care of the problem. After all the excitement of the day, Baker searches and locates his uncles valuable liquors, where he indulges in a drink and plays with a music box, complete with a tiny dancer and his deceased wifes wedding ring. He hears a knock on the outside door, but is too engrossed in thought to care in this entertaining yarn by Terry M. West....
