Balancing sharpness and emotion??? How important is getting some part of an image tack sharp? I took this shot two years ago in the Lewa Wildlife Conservancy in Kenya when it was almost dark. Nothing is in focus but the image evokes in me, and hopefully in some other viewers, the emotion I felt as I watched this beautiful cheetah commence her evening hunt. I feel it also gives some context to the animal in her environment. Im not sure how it will be received by competition judges, though I think Ill stick my neck out and try it in some comps in Oz and elsewhere (maybe)? I would appreciate any comments or critiques you might wish to offer as its too easy to fall in love with your own work. For the technically inclined ... Nikon D300 with Nikkor 70-300mm @ 116 mm (174mm equivalent), exp 0.4 sec @ f/5.0 @ ISO 1600 with some selective brightness adjustments in Lightroom 5. PS ... I highly recommend African safaris for some great wildlife photography opportunities!
