Balgon also known as barugon in the manga sequel to Gamera guardian of the universe. this manga came out a bit before legion was in production. Barugon has a new design and looks way different but still retains his powers and most facial looks from the showa series. the manga is basically a remake of War of the monsters or Gamera vs Barugon. except more is explained ironically has to barugons origin and why his egg ended up in the cavern for hundred of years. Barugon is an ancient weird type of dinosaur, presumably a female one eons ago stumbled across the island long before humans existed and laid an egg there nearby for it to keep watch of its offspring. In present day there is a skeleton of an older barugon most likely case the mother of the egg that fell into the cavern on the island shoreline. the natives tell the area is cursed because of most of anyone who found the egg in that area where it had fell would die or be cursed if taken. Barugon is never specifically noted in any of the natives legends as being a god or spirit like mothra would be, but its foreshadowed at as barugon being the living curse of the opal. which was never an opal to begin with.
