Balloon ride to signify the launch of Marys new business HERO HAVENS Deluxe Military Family Homes I feel very fortunate to have grown up in the Holly Hills/Georgian Heights Community. Among proud folks that coached me in sports and taught me the rewards of hard work. When I visit those same coaches, whose hair I helped turn gray, they still take great pride in their homes and community. The only difference is a couple doors down a landlord now owns the house where they simply slapped on some paint, maybe cleaned the dated carpet and rent to anyone with a pulse and paycheck. I thought what if I could get a certain retired Army Colonel from Maryland, that loves to remodel homes, to fall in love with my old neighborhood? What if she completely brought these homes back to life and up to the quality of my old Coachs house by completely remodeling the kitchen and bathrooms...new cabinets, granite counter tops, stainless appliances. Installing really nice flooring throughout, new windows, roof, doors, and an Ultra EffIcient Lennox heating & cooling system? What if these beautiful homes were leased to our active military families at a no profit reduced price with a plaque by the front door that says A Hero Lives Here and acknowledging their branch of service to country? The 1st of many such homes is scheduled to be turned over this fall the week of Veterans Day, with 2 more on schedule for 2015! My brides new business, Hero Havens, will benefit a wonderful community and families that have sacrificed for us all. The residence of Holly Hill and Georgian Heights and all our friends will be invited to a celebration to welcome this Soldiers family to their new home and community. Just when I thought I could not be more proud of Mary, she goes and does this. My Hero continues to humble this boy every day. :)
