Bangladesh: Female works 3 times more than male Centre for Policy Dialogue (CPD) and Manusher Janna jointly conducted the survey titled Estimate of the Women Contribution in National Economy: Perspective Bangladesh. According to the survey a female aged 15 years to above works three times more than a male of the same age on an average in a day that is not considered in the calculation of national income. Female spends 7.7 hours in such jobs while the male engages themselves only 2.5 hours, and during the period the female used to do 12.1 works daily while the male does 2.7 works.It said the annual value of those works done by the female, which was not counted in the national income as per the replacement system, was 76.8 per cent of the GDP in fiscal 2013-14 while the amount was 87.2% of the GDP on the basis of acceptable value system. CPD research director Fahmida Khatun presented the survey report. Planning Minister A H M Mustafa Kamal said the government would try to find out the ways to acknowledge their contribution incorporating in the GDP. The issue would be prioritised in the seventh Six Five Years Plan. Mentioning that any kind of disparity would not be tolerated, Kamal said, Male and Female involving in similar works would get same wage.
