Bank of England declines more stimulus due to economic recovery Bank of England policyholders, that had previously mooted the possibility of further stimulus, backed away from the idea according to the recent September minutes for the Monetary Policy Committee. It previous months the idea for increased economic stimulus has grown, but the proposal has been dropped due to the economy showing signs of improved growth. Instead the decision has been taken to retain interest rates at 0.5 percent and hold onto the 375 billion stock of bond purchases as in prior months. If the recovery were to falter, according to senior officials, then further asset purchase may become an option again. The minutes noted that the recovery had been stronger than expected, helped in part by the improving Euro zone prospects, but that risks from emerging economies still existed.
