Barbaza employee nabbed for violation of COMELEC gun ban By Ely Suyom SAN JOSE, Antique - A municipal employee of this municipality was arrested by the Barbaza Police operatives for having in his possession and control a firearm in violation of COMELEC gun ban. Spot report disclosed that on or about 11:00 o’clock in the evening of October 24, 2013, at Sitio Lay-on, Brgy. Ipil, Barbaza, elements of the police station led by PO3 Jaime Rios Macandog with six (6) other operatives under the supervision of Chief of Police Insp. Adolfo Pagharion, responded to a call from punong barangay Febe Bragas y Yongque of Brgy. Ipil regarding the presence of armed men in the area. Police operatives arrested HANZEL YONGQUE y AMAR, married, 36 years old, for having in his possession and control tucked in his waist and in plain view a 9 mm caliber pistol, make defaced Norinco Model defaced TOKAREV 213-B, with Serial Number 19067603. Said firearm with one (1) chamber load and with inserted magazine Assy with six (6) live cartridges is not covered with a certificate of authority to the suspect Hanzel Yongque by the COMELEC. Yongque was apprised by his constitutional rights during the arrest and was brought to Barbaza Police Station. He was submitted to medical check-up at Rural Health Unit (RHU) Barbaza prior to his detention at the Barbaza Police Lock-Up cell. Recovered evidence is in the custody of evidence custodian. Officer on Case is PO2 Ryan Baldestamon. In an interview by this writer, Inspector Pagharion said that Yongque was brought to Provincial Prosecutor’s Office for inquest proceedings on October 25, 2013. He was ordered to post bail in the amount of P12, 000.00. As of this writing, Yongque is still detained at Barbaza Municipal Police Station for failure to post bail for his temporary liberty. “Probably, if he could post bail on Tuesday (October 29, 2013) we will release him. Last Friday he failed to post bail because there was no available judge to take action on Yongque’s case,” said Insp. Pagharion.
