(June 12, 2013) – In an event that is timed in hundredths of a second, it is unusual to see a tie at the top of the leaderboard, but that is exactly what happened at the second performance of the College National Finals Rodeo. Emmalee Chase from New Mexico Highlands University was the seventh girl to take her horse around the cloverleaf pattern and had the fans in the Casper Events Center cheering when she stopped the clock in 14.00 seconds. Right after Chase made her run, Jade Crossley from Blue Mountain Community College had an identical time. This is the first time that Chase has qualified for the CNFR. She is a freshman who is drawing on the experience of her coach, Jordan Muncy-Taton who is a former barrel racing champion here. Crossley has qualified in the barrel racing three times and finished in third place last year. She has competed along her older sister Jordan and this year is here with her younger sister Callahan. Jade Crossley also took the lead in the overall standings with a 42.62 on three runs. Chase is currently tied for sixth with two performances left to go before Saturday night’s championship.
