Barry Manilow is singing Cant Smile Without You as FBI Special Agent Deacon Novak and his partner discover a grisly murder in the new book Im writing. Its uncanny how often that happens. Of course, these stats may be skewed by the fact that I often have Manilow playing non-stop as I write, coupled with a high frequency of murders. Just maybe. When I start a book, I always worry that the new villain wont be as evil as the ones before, but they always meet the challenge. This villain is a lot colder and more bloodthirsty than Id anticipated... Hes wreaked a lot of havoc the characters in the next book will have to clean up. They arent too happy with me right now.
