Baseball is a demanding game that requires one to be a grinder! 11U Stars and Stripes Gold falls short of winning a berth to the Super NIT but gain valuable experience moving onto the next one. It takes a team with experience, character and confidence to compete and win a Super NIT. Unless you compete in an event like this you can not fully appreciate the challenge. This type of experience prepares players for the grind of college or even professional baseball. If they think they want to play at the next level, that environment will allow them to fully appreciate what it takes to compete at that level. It takes a team effort, some good breaks and good strategy to have success. Coaches learn each time out just as players do. The 11U Stars and Stripes Gold team was not as prepared as the top three teams who all had more experience as players and as coaches. Many things were learned and better preparation will take place moving into the future. Proper rest, nutrition, and planning can make a ton of difference to properly prepare a team. If you are not learning , you are not getting better! If you are not making mistakes you are not getting better. Can not be scared to swing and miss!
