Based on model data beginning to arrive this evening it still looks like were going to be dealing with a significant ice storm beginning Thursday afternoon across the west and spreading east into Thursday evening. Impacts will last through the weekend. Widespread travel impacts, tree damage, and power outages look probable in the heaviest hit zones. Ive got your latest forecast along with accumulation details on the blog at texasstormchasers/?p=23324 -DavidR Winter Storm Warnings/Watches/Advisories as of 9 PM A WINTER STORM WARNING is in effect for parts of Northwest, West-Central, and North Texas. Sweetwater, Abilene, Brownwood, Stephenville, Cleburne, the D/FW Metroplex, Vernon, Wichita Falls, Sherman, Canton, and Paris are a few towns included. A Winter Storm Warning means there is moderate to high confidence that significant accumulations of ice, sleet, and/or snow will occur within 36 hours. Travel will become dangerous and is discouraged in the warning area. Much of Oklahoma is also under a Winter Storm Warning. A ICE STORM WARNING is in effect for Northeast Texas. Tyler, Mount Pleasant, Clarksville, and Texarkana are a few towns included. A Ice Storm Warning is issued when there is moderate to high confidence in a major ice storm impacting the area with accumulations of ice over a quarter of an inch. Travel will become dangerous. Tree damage is probable along with power outages. A WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY is in effect for the Texas Panhandle, parts of the Permian Basin, parts of West-Central Texas, and portions of Central Texas. Dumas, Pampa, Amarillo, Canyon, Lamesa, Big Spring, San Angelo, Killeen (Fort Hood), Waco, Corsicana, and Athens are included in this advisory. A Winter Weather Advisory is issued when there is moderate confidence in light accumulations of ice, sleet, and/or snow that could cause some travel disruptions. A WINTER STORM WATCH is in effect for the South Plains. Plainview, Lubbock, and Brownfield are included in this watch. A Winter Storm Watch means there is moderate confidence that accumulations of ice, sleet, and/or snow that could cause travel disruptions. This watch will be converted over to a Warning or Advisory later this evening or early on Thursday.
